Yeh Dil Maange More

I had been waiting for monsoons to plan for a trek,
Accompanied by a friend, I packed my sack,
Lots of things to eat and extra pair of clothing,
I forgot to pack light and shed the extra loading,
Got up at 5:15 and reached the station half hour early,
I met a gang of young girls and the trek seemed girly,
But I realized it quite too soon; it wasn’t a cake walk,
After 30 mins or so, I found it even difficult to talk,
Breathless and thirsty, we reached a beautiful spot,
So much for the view that I almost wanted to boycott,
We sat there for 10 mins, revived after a glass of lime water,
Realize that we have travelled the path, only by a quarter,
Up above us was a fort to climb which did not look so easy,
The mountains were rocky and the weather was sleazy,
Met new people and motivated each other to climb,
Scenic spots in between were worth paying the dime,
Reach atop, sat in a circle and shared our lunch,
Bonding over food and celebrating victory, we were quite a bunch,
The transcend was easier but we lost the group in between,
Had our fun and route discoveries, only to find them resting under the green,
The 45 degree climb became easy on its way back,
My friend was a mimic and his jokes cut us some slack,
Boarded the train and the journey of local awaited us,
We sang the raita list aloud, and the tracks were outrageous,
Eating and the hot shower drove me to sleep early that night,
Limping and tanned in the morning, Boy, I was a sight,
The tip was worth it, even with my feet gone sore,
I loved every bit of it and YEH DIL MAANGE MORE!!
